This engraving is one of the so-called Mantegna Tarocchi, a set of fifty prints made in Ferrara around 1465 — not actually by Mantegna, and not playing cards — that map the whole Renaissance order of the cosmos, from beggars and kings up through the muses and liberal arts to the sciences.
