The Story in the Margin
Snowy Owls breed on the open Arctic tundra and are among the few owl species active by day, relying on thick plumage and deeply feathered feet and talons to survive temperatures far below freezing. In the wild the birds hunt from low mounds or the ground itself, since their tundra breeding grounds have no trees, though Audubon posed this specimen on a woodland branch for dramatic effect, a common artistic liberty of the period. Engraved and hand-colored by Robert Havell Jr., this plate is numbered 121 in Audubon's The Birds of America, published in 1831.

My husband spotted this months ago and I finally gave in. The colors in Audubon's Snowy Owl, 1831 are richer than any version I found online.
My husband spotted this months ago and I finally gave in. The tones across Audubon's Snowy Owl, 1831 are even and true right to the corners. It has made me a repeat customer already.
It landed on my porch in perfect condition two days early. Every line in Audubon's Snowy Owl, 1831 is crisp, even in the busiest areas.
The detail is genuinely impressive for what I paid. The color choices Audubon made in Audubon’s Snowy Owl, 1831 come through clearly. This was money well spent.
I have bought a lot of art online and this is the first time it looked exactly like the listing. It has made me appreciate Audubon’s Snowy Owl, 1831 more than I already did. I will absolutely be ordering from here again.
Thanks for the review, and for trusting us with a gift order. Glad it arrived when it was supposed to.
