In the 1890s, Camille Pissarro began painting cityscapes of Paris from hotel windows, drawn to the bustle of boulevards, squares, and railway stations that had become central to modern urban life. "The Place du Havre, Paris" looks down on the busy square outside the Gare Saint-Lazare, filled with pedestrians, carriages, and the rhythms of a modern rail terminus. These late Parisian series, painted from elevated viewpoints, are considered among Pissarro's most important contributions to Impressionism's engagement with the modern city.
Printed edge to edge on a soft, durable woven area rug with a comfortable, non-slip feel.
