This is the scenographic companion to Cellarius's flat Tychonic planisphere, one of three such oblique views in the Harmonia Macrocosmica (1660) that let the reader see the Ptolemaic, Copernican and Tychonic universes as if suspended in space rather than drawn on paper. It shows Tycho Brahe's hybrid model, with the Moon and Sun orbiting a fixed Earth while the remaining planets circle the Sun. The engraving is wrapped in the atlas's characteristic Baroque ornament, with winged putti and drapery framing the celestial mechanism below.
