The Story in the Margin
This engraving is one of the so-called Mantegna Tarocchi, a set of fifty prints made in Ferrara around 1465 — not actually by Mantegna, and not playing cards — that lay out the whole Renaissance picture of the cosmos, from beggars and kings up through the planets and the muses to the liberal arts. Here Grammar appears as the first of the seven liberal arts, teaching a child at the very root of all learning.

It arrived four days after I ordered and in perfect shape. The smaller elements of Grammar, Mantegna Tarocchi are clear enough to reward a close look. It has come through a humid August with no change at all. The tracking updated at every step, which I always appreciate. 🙂
My husband spotted this months ago and I finally gave in. The shading in Grammar, Mantegna Tarocchi has a depth I never noticed in books. 😍
I have bought three of these now for different rooms. I bought this for Grammar, Mantegna Tarocchi and got far more than I paid for.
The picture itself is nice and the execution is average. Anyone who loves Grammar, Mantegna Tarocchi will be content rather than thrilled…
We appreciate the honesty. If the color is not sitting right in your room, we are happy to take it back within thirty days, no questions asked.
The colors read warmer in person and I actually prefer that. It has been a pleasure to have around. 😍
