“Ink plum” describes a genre unto itself within Chinese literati painting: the flowering plum rendered purely in black ink and its washes, without colour, so that attention falls on the brushwork itself rather than on botanical likeness. Painters built the gnarled trunk and branches with a few vigorous, dry strokes that leave streaks of bare paper suggesting weathered bark, then set pale, fine-lined blossoms against a soft grey wash — a technique refined by Yuan-dynasty masters such as Wang Mian and carried forward by generations of later followers. Because the plum is the first tree to flower each year, often while snow still lingers, these paintings traditionally hung in scholars' studios each winter as a private announcement that spring was already on its way.

The detail is unbelievable for the price. Everything that makes Ink Plum special survived the reproduction. This shop has a customer for life in me.
I ordered it on a Friday and it was here Monday. It has made me appreciate Ink Plum more than I already did…
My husband spotted this months ago and I finally gave in. Everything that makes Ink Plum special survived the reproduction. The paper on this print is thick and slightly textured, exactly what I wanted. It is the best thing in the guest room now.
This turned out better than the photos led me to expect. Everything I like about Ink Plum is here and legible. My only wish is that they offered a larger size. Good value even at full price.
This made the whole team smile. Thank you for taking the time, and enjoy it.
