This portrait of Lord Burghersh, later Earl of Westmorland, was made by Roger Fenton, one of the pioneers of war photography, best known for documenting the Crimean War in 1855. Fenton also worked as a portraitist in Britain during the 1850s, when photography was only beginning to rival painting as a way of recording the likeness of aristocratic and military sitters. The composed, formal style seen here was typical of the genre in an era when a single sitting still required several long seconds of stillness.

The detail is unbelievable for the price. I bought this for Lord Burghersh Earl of Westmorland and got far more than I paid for. This one is staying with us a long time.
The colors read warmer in person and I actually prefer that. The balance of light and dark in Lord Burghersh Earl of Westmorland came out better than I expected. My only wish is that they offered a larger size. Our place is a third-floor walk-up and the package came up the stairwell without a scratch. It has become one of my favorite things in the house.
The whole experience was fine in a forgettable way. The colors in Lord Burghersh Earl of Westmorland are close to right and a little cool for my taste. The pollen coats everything here in April and this wiped clean without a mark.
I bought this to fill an awkward corner and it did much more than that. Everything that makes Lord Burghersh Earl of Westmorland special survived the reproduction. My only regret is not ordering sooner.
I would buy from this shop again without much thought. The tones across Lord Burghersh Earl of Westmorland are even and deep. It has me wanting to redo the rest of the sunroom to match. This shop has earned a repeat customer.
