Orchideae — Antique Art Print

This print reproduces Plate 74, Orchideae, from Ernst Haeckel's landmark Kunstformen der Natur (Art Forms in Nature), issued in installments between 1899 and 1904. Haeckel, a German naturalist, developed the composition from his own studies of orchid structure, while the finished lithograph was drawn and printed by his regular collaborator Adolf Giltsch of Jena, who worked on all 100 plates in the series. The plate gathers a wide range of orchid genera, including Odontoglossum, Oncidium, Cattleya, and Cypripedium, into one symmetrical arrangement that celebrates the family's extraordinary variety of floral form.
