This is a Portrait du Globe Terraquée — a 'portrait of the terraqueous globe' — after the French engraver Pierre Courtin. Prints like this presented the whole earth of land and water (terra and aqua) as a single ornamented sphere, part map and part allegory, in the age when Europe was still charting the wider world.

The reproduction quality is the best I have seen anywhere near this price. The smallest marks in Portrait of the Terraqueous Globe are still visible, which is the entire point. The packing was almost comical in how careful it was. The detail is sharp enough that I keep finding new things in it. The high desert dries everything out and this has not cracked or curled…
I wanted something for the powder room that nobody else would have, and this is it. ⭐
It went exactly where I planned and needed no adjusting at all. ✨
The detail is unbelievable for the price. It survived a move from Ohio to Michigan in the back of a pickup.
