The Story in the Margin
This landscape, showing figures carrying baskets along a country road, was painted in the style of Jacob van Ruisdael (1628/29–1682), the towering landscape painter of the Dutch Golden Age. Ruisdael's meticulous rendering of trees, weather and rural life was widely imitated by pupils and followers throughout the 17th century, and works painted in his style carried forward his gift for turning an ordinary country path into a scene of quiet atmosphere and depth.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

It has completely changed how the hallway feels…
The detail is good until you get within a couple of feet. My eye goes to the middle of Figures with Baskets on Road and finds the edges a bit soft. The paper on this poster is decent without feeling special. I am neither pleased nor annoyed…
Thanks for taking the time. Feedback about softness in the detail is useful to us, and we are rescanning several pieces this quarter.
This is the best thing I have bought for the house all year. Anyone who loves Ruisdael should have Figures with Baskets on Road somewhere in the house. One very happy customer here.
It arrived four days after I ordered and in perfect shape. It brought Figures with Baskets on Road into the house at a price I could actually justify. The colors are deep without looking oversaturated. I am pleased with how this turned out.
The detail is unbelievable for the price. The texture in Figures with Baskets on Road makes Ruisdael feel present in the room.
