After Maria Sibylla Merian's death in 1717, Metamorphosis Insectorum Surinamensium was reissued and translated across several editions, though some later hand-colored copies introduced errors and even imaginary insects that were never in her original plates. Modern scholarship has largely stripped away those later distortions and confirmed the accuracy of Merian's own observations. This plate reproduces one image from that long publishing history, likely pairing an insect with its Surinamese host plant.

I wanted something for the hallway that nobody else would have, and this is it. The detail in Surinam Insects and Plants holds up with my face inches away. It has made me a repeat customer already.
The colors are richer in person than they look on a screen. My guests ask about Surinam Insects and Plants before anything else in the house. My partner is hard to impress and even he was taken with it. Thank you for making something this good.
It fills the space in the living room the way I hoped it would. The tones across Surinam Insects and Plants are even and deep. It has come through a humid August with no change at all. This shop has earned a repeat customer.
