This monumental woodcut, Titian's largest print, was designed around 1515 and printed from twelve separate blocks to form a single scene over seven feet wide — the Israelites watching as the Red Sea closes over the pursuing Egyptian army after Moses parts the waters. Titian (c. 1488–1576), the greatest painter of 16th-century Venice, brought the same bold, vigorous line and dramatic composition found in his paintings to this rare large-scale printmaking project, intended to be hung on a wall like a history painting.

It arrived two days after I ordered, which I did not expect. The tones across The Submersion of Pharaoh's Army are even and true right to the corners. It suits an old brick house better than anything I found at the stores around Atlanta. I would order this again tomorrow.
This went well past what I expected. There is a life to The Submersion of Pharaoh's Army here that flat reproductions usually kill. I have already ordered two more for other rooms. It washed up beautifully on cold and came out looking new.
