This furnishing fabric depicts a chinoiserie 'tea party,' a favorite invented scene in which European designers imagined elegant figures in fanciful dress gathered beneath parasols and pagoda roofs to take tea. The subject played on Europe's growing taste for tea drinking itself, imported from China and reimagined here as a decorative fantasy rather than an observed custom. Large-scale patterns like this covered furniture and walls in the chinoiserie-fashioned rooms of eighteenth-century Europe.

So much detail
This went well past what I expected. There is a life to chinese tea party here that flat reproductions usually kill. It has held up through a winter of dry radiator heat with no curling at all.
