Painted in 1685 by Yun Shouping, a founding master of the Changzhou school renowned for flower painting, this work depicts the herbaceous peony, long celebrated in Chinese culture as the 'king of flowers.' Yun Shouping's inscription reflects on the peony as a link to a glorious past, a meaning the flower took on with new resonance during the early Qing dynasty. The painting is held in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.

The colors are richer in person than they look on a screen. There is no pixelation at all, even with my nose close to it. Our driver leaves everything at the end of a long gravel driveway and it still arrived in perfect shape.
I would buy from this shop again without much thought. It captures herbaceous peony well enough that I stopped looking for a better one. The color match is close enough that nobody would question it. The finish looks even across the entire surface. We keep the porch doors open most of the year and the colors have not shifted.
The shipping was fast and the packing was better than most furniture I have bought. It brings out parts of herbaceous peony I have never seen reproduced this well. It looks like something you would find in a very good museum shop. My partner is hard to impress and even he was taken with it. It has made the family room feel finished.
The warm neutral matches what I saw on my monitor closely enough. The colors in herbaceous peony came through almost exactly as I hoped. The colors are deep without looking oversaturated. I will be back for another one.
