“A Myriad of Birds” is a silk satin-weave embroidery made during China's Qing dynasty (1700s–1800s), depicting a profusion of birds rendered in polychrome silk thread with the technical virtuosity for which Qing-era embroidery workshops were celebrated. Bird motifs carried auspicious symbolism in Chinese decorative art, and elaborate embroidered panels like this one were prized as luxury furnishings within wealthy Qing households.
