Alfred Sisley, an English-born painter who spent almost his entire career in France, settled in the small town of Moret-sur-Loing in 1889 and painted its streets, bridges, and riverbanks obsessively until his death in 1899. "A Corner of Moret-sur-Loing" reflects this late, devoted engagement with a single place, rendered with the soft, light-filled brushwork that made Sisley one of the purest practitioners of Impressionist landscape. Though less famous than Monet or Renoir in his lifetime, Sisley is now recognized as one of the movement's most consistent and lyrical painters.
Printed edge to edge on a soft, durable woven area rug with a comfortable, non-slip feel.
