After settling in Moret-sur-Loing in 1889, Alfred Sisley painted the town's medieval streets, gates, and church repeatedly in changing light and season, treating the small town almost as Monet later treated his water-lily pond at Giverny. This street scene reflects that intense late engagement with a single place, rendered with the delicate color and attention to atmosphere that define Sisley's mature Impressionist style. Moret remains closely associated with Sisley's legacy, and the town later named a promenade in his honor.

The quality here is well beyond what I paid for it. The detail in Street in Moret holds up with my face inches away. We keep the porch doors open most of the year and the colors have not shifted. I already have my eye on a second one.

I was expecting good and got great. I bought this for Street in Moret and got far more than I paid for. The light in the Pacific Northwest is gray most of the year and this still holds its color.
