The Hermitage was a hillside quarter of Pontoise that Camille Pissarro painted obsessively throughout the 1870s, using its orchards, houses, and woodland paths to develop the structured, carefully built-up brushwork of his mature Impressionist style. "Woodlands at the Hermitage" reflects that sustained study of a single place, in which Pissarro treated the motif almost as a laboratory for testing how light and texture could be translated into paint. Paul Cézanne worked alongside Pissarro at the Hermitage in the early 1870s, an experience both artists later described as decisive.

Jacquard-woven as a soft, double-sided tapestry throw with fringed edges — a warm layer for the sofa or bed.
