“Le Porte del Dolo” (The Locks at Dolo) is among the most reproduced plates from Canaletto's Vedute (Views), the series of etchings he made between 1740 and 1743 during a lull in commissions for paintings. Canaletto (Giovanni Antonio Canal, 1697–1768) depicted the canal locks at Dolo, a town on the Brenta Canal between Venice and Padua, more than once across the series, drawn to the interplay of architecture, water and everyday river traffic. An impression is held in the Royal Collection.

The reproduction quality is the best I have seen anywhere near this price. The smallest marks in The Gates of Dolo are still visible, which is the entire point. Every person who has been in the house has asked where it came from. The soft gray sits perfectly against the paint we already had. Genuinely delighted with it.
It landed on my porch in perfect condition two days early. The clarity of The Gates of Dolo makes it look like the original was photographed yesterday. The packing was almost comical in how careful it was. It looks like something you would find in a very good museum shop. Genuinely delighted with it.
