This etching served as the title page for Canaletto's Vedute (Views), the series of 33 etchings he produced between 1740 and 1744 and dedicated to his patron and dealer Joseph Smith, the British consul in Venice. Canaletto (Giovanni Antonio Canal, 1697–1768) described the plates within as views “some taken from nature, others imagined,” a rare instance of the artist framing his own project in his own words.

I was nervous about ordering art online and this went smoothly. The detail in Title Page holds up from a couple of feet away. Four stars, and the fifth comes if they add more sizes.

Good value for something this size. I have wanted a good version of Title Page for a long time and this is very close. Everything in this house is secured for earthquakes and this has stayed put through two small ones.
It arrived in one piece, which is the nicest thing I can say about it. The poster feels light and insubstantial in the hand. The trim is uneven, noticeably wider on one side than the other. I ordered this for a lake house in Alabama and could not use it for a single weekend. Disappointing in just about every way.

The colors read warmer in person and I actually prefer that. Everything I like about Title Page is here and legible. It cost about twenty dollars more than I wanted to spend and I don't regret it. It fits the space in the mudroom exactly the way I measured it. Happy customer, and I don't say that often.
