Claude Monet made several extended visits to London between 1899 and 1901, painting the Thames from a room at the Savoy Hotel and later the Houses of Parliament from St Thomas' Hospital. "Charing Cross Bridge" was one of his favored motifs, repeated in dozens of canvases that captured the bridge and river dissolving into London's characteristic fog and coal smoke. Monet considered the London fog essential to the city's beauty, remarking that without it London would not be a beautiful city.
Printed edge to edge on a soft, durable woven area rug with a comfortable, non-slip feel.
