In the autumn of 1886, Claude Monet spent over two months on Belle-Île, a rugged island off the coast of Brittany, painting its dramatic granite cliffs and pounding surf — a striking departure from the gentler river landscapes he was known for. "Rocks at Port-Goulphar" captures the wild, craggy coastline near the island's southern tip, rendered with darker colors and more turbulent brushwork than his earlier Seine and garden scenes. The Belle-Île paintings mark an important expansion of Monet's range into rougher, more dramatic natural subjects.
Jacquard-woven both sides in soft, durable yarn; insert included.
