Beginning in 1890, Claude Monet painted a series of roughly twenty-five canvases of grain stacks in the fields near his home at Giverny, working on multiple canvases in a single sitting to capture the changing light of different times of day and season. "Stack of Wheat" belongs to this landmark series, in which Monet used the same simple, stable motif repeatedly to demonstrate how color and atmosphere alone could transform a subject entirely. The Grainstacks series is widely considered the first time Monet's serial method reached full maturity.
Jacquard-woven as a soft, double-sided tapestry throw with fringed edges — a warm layer for the sofa or bed.
