Constantinople, founded by the Roman emperor Constantine in AD 330 on the site of the ancient Greek colony of Byzantium, served as the capital of the Byzantine Empire for over a thousand years before falling to the Ottoman Turks in 1453. Straddling the strait between Europe and Asia, the city controlled trade between the Mediterranean and Black Sea and became, under Ottoman rule, the seat of the sultans and one of the largest, most cosmopolitan cities in the world. Its skyline of domes and minarets, anchored by the former cathedral of Hagia Sophia, made it endlessly fascinating to European mapmakers picturing a city that stood at the crossroads of two continents and two faiths.

I have had it a month and I am still not happy with it. It is hard to make out the smaller parts of Constantinople from more than a few feet away. Disappointing in just about every way.
This is disappointing to hear and I am sorry we let you down. We have passed the packaging problem along to the team that packs our orders, and we would like to fix this for you.
My daughter picked this out and she has better taste than I do. The tones across Constantinople are even and deep. Shipping took four days from order to doorstep. The reproduction is clean and even, with no obvious digital artifacts.
I have bought three of these now for different rooms. The smallest marks in Constantinople are still visible, which is the entire point.
I have bought a lot of art online and this is the first time it looked exactly like the listing. It has made me appreciate Constantinople more than I already did.
The shipping was fast and the packing was better than most furniture I have bought. It came with a handwritten thank you that made the whole thing feel personal. The packing was almost comical in how careful it was.
