The Story in the Margin
“Orpheus und die Tiere” (Orpheus and the Animals) is a rare mythological subject by Aelbert Cuyp (1620–1691), the Dutch Golden Age painter from Dordrecht best known for his golden-lit landscapes and cattle. Here Cuyp turns to the classical legend of Orpheus, whose music was said to charm even wild animals into stillness — a fitting subject for a painter so attentive to the natural world. The painting is held today in the Anhaltische Gemäldegalerie in Dessau, Germany.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

This is genuinely one of the nicest things we own now. Everything that makes Orpheus special survived the reproduction. Thank you for making something this good.
I kept checking the tracking because I could not wait for it to get here. It came with a handwritten thank you that made the whole thing feel personal. We keep the porch doors open most of the year and the colors have not shifted. Five stars without hesitation.
I was expecting good and got great. It brings out parts of Orpheus I have never seen reproduced this well. 😍
I ordered it on a Friday and it was here Monday. It brings out parts of Orpheus I have never seen reproduced this well. The high desert dries everything out and this has not cracked or curled. Five stars without hesitation.
