Aelbert Cuyp painted this grand double portrait around 1652, showing the young brothers Cornelis and Michiel Pompe van Meerdervoort on horseback with their tutor and coachman, off to hunt near Dordrecht. Wealth, boyhood and Cuyp's golden light meet in one sweeping scene; the painting is now a highlight of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
