The Story in the Margin
This 1829 lithograph, printed by E. Ardit, is one half of Delacroix's largest pair of pendant prints, paired with a companion image of a tiger in a face-off of the kind staged for entertainment since antiquity. It reflects Delacroix's enduring fascination with big cats, which he studied intensively from life at venues such as the Jardin des Plantes menagerie in Paris well before his 1832 trip to North Africa deepened that interest. Rendered with dramatic, muscular energy, it stands among the most celebrated of Delacroix's animal lithographs.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

This was a gift for my sister and she called me the day it arrived. My daughter recognized Lion of the Atlas Mountains from her art class and was thrilled.
The shipping was fast and the packing was better than most furniture I have bought. Every line in Lion of the Atlas Mountains is crisp, even in the busiest areas. It has made the kitchen feel finished.
I have already recommended this shop to three people. The clarity of Lion of the Atlas Mountains makes it look like the original was photographed yesterday. The paper on this poster is thick and slightly textured, exactly what I wanted. I am thrilled with the whole experience.
It is a very good poster that costs a bit more than it should. I have wanted a good version of Lion of the Atlas Mountains for a long time and this is very close. It has come through a humid August with no change at all. It does everything I hoped it would. 👌
