George Inness, one of the most influential American landscape painters of the nineteenth century, returned throughout his career to the woodlands and changing seasons of the American Northeast, and "Autumn Woods" reflects his mature, atmospheric style, built on soft, hazy brushwork rather than the sharp detail of the earlier Hudson River School. Inness believed, in keeping with his Swedenborgian religious convictions, that landscape painting could express spiritual truths beneath the visible surface of nature, an idea that shaped the moody, contemplative character of his later work.
Jacquard-woven both sides in soft, durable yarn; insert included.

The subject alone sold me and the execution sealed it. My guests ask about Autumn Woods before anything else in the house. Perfect from start to finish.
I kept checking the tracking because I could not wait for it to get here. Everything that makes Autumn Woods special survived the reproduction. The high desert dries everything out and this has not cracked or curled. It has made the den feel finished…
I have bought a lot of art online and this is the first time it looked exactly like the listing. It has made the breakfast nook feel finished.
It made the breakfast nook feel finished in a way I could not manage on my own.
It landed on my porch in perfect condition two days early. There is a life to Autumn Woods here that flat reproductions usually kill. It came with a handwritten thank you that made the whole thing feel personal. The materials are noticeably better than the last two things I ordered online.
Thanks for this. Happy the colors landed the way they should, since that is the part we fuss over most.
