The Story in the Margin
This etching, pairing two soldiers with two women in a shadowed, ambiguous scene, belongs to the Capricci, ten prints Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (1696–1770) etched in the 1740s during a period apart from his major fresco commissions. Tiepolo, the leading decorative painter of 18th-century Venice, filled the series with recurring figures — soldiers, sorcerers, women and old philosophers — arranged in dreamlike tableaux that resist a single clear narrative.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

I was expecting good and got great. I have told half my family about this shop.
It has completely changed how the nursery feels. The whole thing feels like it was made by people who care about it. I could not be happier with it.
So glad it found the right spot in your house. Thanks for the kind words. Ines
The sepia matches what I saw on my monitor closely enough. The balance of light and dark in Two Soldiers came out better than I expected. Recommended if you are on the fence.
The quality here is well beyond what I paid for it. My guests ask about Two Soldiers before anything else in the house. It has beaten every expectation I had.
This went well past what I expected. The scale works perfectly for Two Soldiers and nothing feels cramped. Perfect from start to finish.
