The Story in the Margin
“Winterlandschaft” (Winter Landscape) is a snow-covered scene by Jacob van Ruisdael (1628/29–1682), widely regarded as the greatest landscape painter of the Dutch Golden Age. Ruisdael painted winter scenes throughout his career in Haarlem and Amsterdam, using bare trees and heavy skies to capture the stark beauty of the Dutch countryside in the cold months. This work is held in the Hamburger Kunsthalle in Germany.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

This is my fourth order from this shop and the standard has not slipped once. The texture in Winter Landscape makes Ruisdael feel present in the room.
The colors are richer in person than they look on a screen. My guests ask about Winter Landscape before anything else in the house. The tracking updated at every stage and it arrived when they said it would. This one is staying with us a long time…
I have no real complaints and one small wish. Only the far edges of Winter Landscape lose a little crispness. 🙂
The whole experience was fine in a forgettable way. I wanted something by Ruisdael and settled for a middling copy of Winter Landscape. I would buy from here again with clearer expectations.
