Edgar Degas depicted women bathing and drying themselves obsessively in his later career, producing dozens of pastels and paintings that he described as showing the human body "as seen through a keyhole" — private, unposed, and absorbed in ordinary physical activity. "After the Bath" belongs to this major late series, in which Degas used bold, unconventional viewpoints and increasingly vivid pastel color to capture the body in motion rather than in idealized repose. These bather works are now considered among Degas's most innovative contributions to modern figure painting.

Fast, safe, gorgeous
The subject alone sold me and the execution sealed it. It brings out parts of the Bath I have never seen reproduced this well. I would pay more and still feel good about it.

Two stars because it did eventually show up and it is not unusable. The size runs smaller than the measurements led me to believe. Not a purchase I would repeat.

Five stars, no hesitation
This is my fourth order from this shop and the standard has not slipped once. My daughter recognized the Bath from her art class and was thrilled. The doorman held it for two days and it came through fine.
