In the early 1890s, Edgar Degas experimented briefly with monotype landscapes, working from memory rather than on-the-spot observation to produce moody, atmospheric scenes quite different from his usual urban and theatrical subjects. "Landscape with Smokestacks" reflects this short but intense period of experimentation, in which industrial forms emerge from smudged, painterly fields of color applied directly to a printing plate. These landscape monotypes are now recognized as an important, if lesser-known, chapter in Degas's restless technical innovation.
Jacquard-woven both sides in soft, durable yarn; insert included.

The quality is fine and the wait was the real problem. This is reasonable value for something by Degas, and Landscape with Smokestacks still deserves a better scan. Delivery took two and a half weeks, which felt long for the price. The subject is great and the execution is average.
Everyone who walks in asks about it. The scale works perfectly for Landscape with Smokestacks and nothing feels cramped. The tracking updated at every stage and it arrived when they said it would. The detail is sharp enough that I keep finding new things in it. Five stars without hesitation. ✨
I bought this to fill an awkward corner and it did much more than that. It has made me appreciate Landscape with Smokestacks more than I already did. My neighbor liked it enough that she ordered one for her own place. The finish is even and flawless right to the edges.
Thank you for coming back for another one. Repeat customers are the best compliment we get.
I have bought three of these now for different rooms. I bought this for Landscape with Smokestacks and got far more than I paid for. It has not faded at all in a room that gets brutal afternoon light. The finish is even and flawless right to the edges. It has been worth every minute of the wait.
It looks great in the living room and my wife noticed it before I said anything. The detail in Landscape with Smokestacks holds up from a couple of feet away. ⭐
