This “Allegory of Venus and Cupid” was painted by an imitator of Titian (c. 1488–1576), the great Venetian Renaissance master whose sensuous mythological paintings — glowing with rich color and soft, atmospheric light — were copied and reinterpreted by generations of painters after him. Titian's influential treatment of Venus, the goddess of love, alongside her son Cupid became a touchstone subject across Venetian painting, and this version reflects how deeply his style shaped those who followed.
