“View of Delft” (c. 1660–61) is Johannes Vermeer's celebrated cityscape of his native Delft, seen from across the harbor beneath a dramatic, cloud-streaked sky. Vermeer (1632–1675) used tiny flecks of paint to capture sunlight glinting on brick, water and rooftop, creating an effect so vivid it inspired the writer Marcel Proust to call it “the most beautiful painting in the world.” The painting has hung in the Mauritshuis in The Hague since 1822.
Jacquard-woven in soft, durable cotton — a warm, fully reversible throw for the sofa, bed or reading chair.
