In 1909 John Singer Sargent spent more than a month on the Greek island of Corfu, captivated by its ancient olive groves — trees celebrated for their beauty since antiquity. Working in watercolor with scraping and wax-resist techniques, he captured the gnarled silver-green trunks and dappled Mediterranean light of the island's olive terraces. The watercolor is now held in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Jacquard-woven as a soft, double-sided tapestry throw with fringed edges — a warm layer for the sofa or bed.
