Painted during John Singer Sargent's extended 1909 stay on the Greek island of Corfu, this work captures figures resting in the deep shade of the island's cypress groves — it was sold in 1925 under the title 'Two Girls Reclining under Cypress Trees, Corfu.' It belongs to the same celebrated series of sun-dappled Corfu landscapes Sargent produced during that trip. The painting is now held in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Jacquard-woven both sides in soft, durable yarn; insert included.

This is the second thing I have bought here and both have been good. The detail in Under the Cypress Trees at Corfu holds up from a couple of feet away. 😍
I have already recommended this shop to three people. The brushwork in Under the Cypress Trees at Corfu shows exactly why Sargent has the reputation.
This has been the easiest online order I have placed in years. Anyone who loves Sargent should have Under the Cypress Trees at Corfu somewhere in the house. Every person who has been in the house has asked where it came from. The quality would hold up next to things costing three times as much. It has been through a Gulf Coast August with the AC running nonstop and looks exactly the same.
This has been the easiest online order I have placed in years. I have been hunting for a good version of Under the Cypress Trees at Corfu for two years.
This is the best thing I have bought for the house all year. The tones across Under the Cypress Trees at Corfu are even and true right to the corners. Five stars without hesitation.
