This view of Mussoorie and the Dhoon valley seen from Landour, in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas, was engraved after a sketch by an East India Company officer and worked up by J.M.W. Turner for one of the many illustrated travel annuals he supplied with finished landscape compositions. Turner rarely traveled outside Europe himself, instead transforming other artists' on-the-spot sketches into fully realized, atmospheric landscapes for the British print market's growing appetite for views of India. The result combines topographical record with Turner's signature sensitivity to light and distance.
Printed edge to edge on a soft, durable woven area rug with a comfortable, non-slip feel.

It arrived four days after I ordered and in perfect shape. People who know Turner spot Mussooree and the Dhoon from Landour from across the room. I would tell anyone hesitating to go ahead. ⭐
The condition on arrival was perfect, which I did appreciate. It is a fair version of Mussooree and the Dhoon from Landour at a fair price. The detail is good at a distance and ordinary up close. I would think it over before ordering again.
I have bought three of these now for different rooms. It has brightened up a basement rec room that gets almost no natural light. My only regret is not ordering sooner.
The warm neutral came out much duller than the preview suggested. The brushwork in Mussooree and the Dhoon from Landour is where Turner lives, and it is barely visible here.
It looks like something out of a museum shop, in the best possible way. Anyone who loves Turner should have Mussooree and the Dhoon from Landour somewhere in the house. 😍
