“Li Wenzhong Clears the North” is a polychrome woodblock print made during the Jiaqing period (1796–1820) of China's Qing dynasty, depicting the Ming-dynasty general Li Wenzhong, celebrated in popular legend and theater for his military campaigns against northern invaders. Prints portraying historical and legendary heroes like Li Wenzhong were popular in Qing-dynasty China, often inspired by opera and folk storytelling traditions. The original is held in the public-domain collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
