Milford — Antique Map Print

Milford is a mill town on the Souhegan River in southern New Hampshire, its name describing exactly what made the settlement possible: a ford across the river beside the mills that harnessed its water power beginning in the late 18th century. Granite quarrying became a major industry in the surrounding hills during the 19th century, and Milford granite was shipped by rail to build monuments and buildings across the northeastern United States.
