This pen-and-ink drawing of figures, a chariot, and a dog is catalogued by the Art Institute of Chicago as after Nicolas Poussin (1594–1665), meaning it reproduces a composition associated with the French Baroque painter rather than being a sheet from his own hand. It is dated to about 1624, the year Poussin settled in Rome, when he was absorbing antique sculpture and developing the rigorous, classically grounded figure style that would define his later mythological and history paintings. As a study sheet rather than a finished narrative scene, it offers a glimpse of the working vocabulary behind Poussin's more elaborate compositions. The original sheet is held among the Art Institute of Chicago's Old Master drawings.

Printed edge to edge on a soft, durable woven area rug with a comfortable, non-slip feel.
