Paris has been documented in print for centuries, its landmarks and street life recorded not only in formal city-view maps but in a wider tradition of topographical prints meant to capture the character and atmosphere of the French capital rather than serve as literal navigational aids. Such prints might focus on a single monument, a riverside scene, or a busy public square, offering a more intimate glimpse of the city than a map's overhead perspective could provide. Together with the more formal cartographic views, these images fed a European and eventually global fascination with Paris as a capital of art, learning, and fashion.

The sepia on my screen and the sepia that arrived are two different things. The reproduction of Paris is bad enough that I would not tell anyone what it is. The scan behind this is low resolution and it shows everywhere. Zero stars would be more honest.
I am so sorry this reached you in that condition, and it is not the standard we hold ourselves to. Email us with your order number and we will send a replacement or refund you in full, whichever you prefer. Ines
I wanted to love it and I only sort of like it. My eye goes to the middle of Paris and finds the edges a bit soft.
The deep blue matches what I saw on my monitor closely enough. The colors in Paris came through almost exactly as I hoped. It does everything I hoped it would.
I bought this to fill an awkward corner and it did much more than that. It brings out parts of Paris I have never seen reproduced this well.
The shipping was fast and the packing was better than most furniture I have bought. The shading in Paris has a depth I never noticed in books.
