Paul Cézanne's "The Card Players" series, painted in the early 1880s, depicts Provençal peasants absorbed in a game of cards, treated with the same structural seriousness Cézanne applied to still life and landscape. This study reflects his working process for the series, in which he made numerous preparatory drawings and oil sketches to resolve the pose, weight, and placement of each figure before finalizing the composition. The finished "Card Players" paintings are now considered among the most important works of Cézanne's mature career, bridging Impressionism and early modernism.

Printed edge to edge on a soft, durable woven area rug with a comfortable, non-slip feel.
