This woodcut belongs to Paul Gauguin's "Noa Noa" suite, a series of prints he created after returning to Paris from his first stay in Tahiti, intended to accompany his own semi-fictionalized travel memoir of the same name. "L'univers est créé (The Universe Is Being Created)" reflects Gauguin's fascination with Polynesian cosmology and creation myth, rendered in a boldly carved, primitivist woodcut technique that abandoned fine European engraving conventions in favor of raw, direct mark-making. The Noa Noa woodcuts are considered among the most radical and influential prints of the late nineteenth century.
Jacquard-woven as a soft, double-sided tapestry throw with fringed edges — a warm layer for the sofa or bed.

It has completely changed how the entryway feels. The color in The Universe is what people mean when they talk about Gauguin.
It landed on my porch in perfect condition two days early. I have wanted something by Gauguin since college, and The Universe was the one to get. The weave is tight enough to hold every bit of the detail. My partner is hard to impress and even he was taken with it. Thank you for making something this good. ✨
My order came a day early, which never happens. Our winters are long and dark, and this has made the room feel warmer. Really no complaints worth writing down.
