Painted in 1890 at Le Pouldu in Brittany, shortly before Paul Gauguin's first voyage to Tahiti, "Woman with a Cat" depicts a seated female nude rendered with the bold contours and flattened planes of color that define his Synthetist style. The painting belongs to a small group of intimate studio studies from his final months in France, made as he searched for subjects beyond Impressionism and modern Paris — a search that would soon lead him to the South Pacific. Its warm palette and simplified forms anticipate the style he would carry into his Tahitian work.
Printed edge to edge on a soft, durable woven area rug with a comfortable, non-slip feel.

This is genuinely one of the nicest things we own now. I have been hunting for a good version of Woman with a Cat for two years. The whole order was smooth from checkout to unwrapping. It survived a Brooklyn building where packages sit in the lobby all day.
I have bought three of these now for different rooms. The tracking updated at every stage and it arrived when they said it would. The tones are deep and even across the entire surface. I cannot recommend this shop highly enough.
It is a very good rug that costs a bit more than it should. It brought Woman with a Cat into the house at a price I could actually justify. ✨
The shipping was fast and the packing was better than most furniture I have bought. I have already ordered two more for other rooms. The seller replied to my question in under a hour.
I have bought three of these now for different rooms. The detail in Woman with a Cat holds up with my face inches away.
