During the 1880s, Paul Signac painted the cliffs and river views around Les Andelys, a village on the Seine in Normandy, returning to the site repeatedly to explore its light and color under his developing Pointillist technique. "Les Andelys, Côte d'Aval" depicts the village's dramatic riverside cliffs, rendered in the small, distinct dots of pure color Signac developed alongside Georges Seurat. These Normandy landscapes mark an important stage in Signac's transition from Impressionism toward the more systematic, scientific approach to color that defined Neo-Impressionism.
Jacquard-woven as a soft, double-sided tapestry throw with fringed edges — a warm layer for the sofa or bed.
