The Story in the Margin
Silenus, the fat, perpetually drunk tutor of the wine god Bacchus, was a favorite subject of Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640). Here two satyrs prop up the reeling old reveler, all warm flesh and earthy comedy — Rubens delighting, as ever, in abundance, appetite and the sheer physical richness of paint.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

The quality is better than most of what I have seen at this price. The balance of light and dark in Silenus Supported came out better than I expected. There is a small imperfection near one edge that I have decided to like. The finish looks even across the entire surface. Really no complaints worth writing down.
I was expecting good and got great. The shading in Silenus Supported has a depth I never noticed in books.
It has completely changed how the entryway feels. The color in Silenus Supported is what people mean when they talk about Rubens. It came through a summer of wildfire smoke and open windows with no smell at all. Don't think twice, just order it.
The whole experience was smooth from checkout to delivery. The finish looks even across the entire surface. It has me wanting to redo the rest of the reading nook to match. Four stars and a short wish list.
Wonderful to read, thank you. We put a lot of thought into how these are packed, so it is good to know that came through.
I wanted something for the stairwell that nobody else would have, and this is it…
