Pierre Puvis de Chavannes was among the most influential French painters of the late nineteenth century, celebrated for large-scale mural decorations rendered in a muted, matte, fresco-like palette that inspired Symbolist and modern painters from Georges Seurat to Pablo Picasso. "Study of a Sleeping Woman" reflects his working method, in which detailed figure studies preceded the simplified, idealized forms of his finished murals. Puvis's calm, contemplative figures, often set in timeless, pastoral landscapes, sought a classical serenity distinct from the bright immediacy of Impressionism.
Jacquard-woven both sides in soft, durable yarn; insert included.

The customer service here answered me on a Sunday. Every line in study sleeping woman is crisp, even in the busiest areas. The afternoon sun in this room is relentless, so I kept it on the shaded side and it has stayed true. Perfect from start to finish.
The subject is exactly what I wanted and the reproduction is only okay. There is enough of study sleeping woman here to enjoy without it being a standout. The colors are close to the listing and slightly muted. It sits fine in the kitchen and does not pull the space together the way I hoped.
It came packed so well that opening it took ten minutes. I have been hunting for a good version of study sleeping woman for two years. It went straight into the nursery and has not moved since.
I was expecting good and got great. Everything that makes study sleeping woman special survived the reproduction. Our summers are so humid that I was nervous about ordering anything at all, and it has held up perfectly.
My order came a day early, which never happens. I have wanted a good version of study sleeping woman for a long time and this is very close. Our winters are long and dark, and this has made the room feel warmer. It has made the nursery feel more finished.
