The Story in the Margin
Painted in 1560, “Children's Games” by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 1525–1569) crowds more than 230 children into a town square, absorbed in some 80 different games and pastimes of 16th-century Flanders. Bruegel, one of the great Netherlandish Renaissance painters, used the bustling scene to catalogue an entire vanished world of childhood play with an anthropologist's eye for detail. The painting hangs today in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.
