The Story in the Margin
“The Peasant Wedding” (1567) is one of Pieter Bruegel the Elder's best-known scenes of rural life, showing a boisterous wedding feast crowded into a barn, with the bride seated beneath a paper crown and guests jostling for food and drink. Bruegel (c. 1525–1569) painted peasant subjects with unusual dignity and close observation rather than as mere caricature, helping establish genre painting as a serious subject in Netherlandish art. The painting hangs today in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.
