The Story in the Margin
Painted in 1562, “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” shows the archangel Michael and his host driving Lucifer's rebel angels from heaven, their bodies twisting into grotesque hybrid monsters as they tumble into darkness. Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c. 1525–1569) drew on the fantastical creature-painting of Hieronymus Bosch for this teeming, nightmarish composition, packing the canvas with writhing, insect-winged demons. The painting is held in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels.
Printed with archival giclée inks on smooth, acid-free 220 gsm gallery-grade fine-art paper; available in multiple sizes.

The detail is unbelievable for the price. I bought this for The Fall of the Rebel Angels and got far more than I paid for.
I’m really pleased with this. The hand of Bruegel is visible in The Fall of the Rebel Angels in a way I did not expect at this price.
For what I paid I expected considerably more than this. Fans of Bruegel will find this take on The Fall of the Rebel Angels disappointing. It cost me eighteen dollars to send the first one back. Support answered after nine days with one line and no solution. The driver left it in the vestibule during a snowstorm and the seller blamed me for it.
That is not the experience we want anyone to have. A full refund is on its way to your card, and I am sorry it took a review to get there. Ines
It arrived two days after I ordered, which I did not expect. The brushwork in The Fall of the Rebel Angels shows exactly why Bruegel has the reputation. The tracking updated at every stage and it arrived when they said it would. Five stars without hesitation…
So glad it found the right spot in your house. Thanks for the kind words. Ines
